This hike was the most awesome of the year, and it's also my last new image release of 2023!
We slept in the car the night before at the track's start, aiming for an early start. Waking up to rain, we were relieved when it eased off as we began the steep ascent.

Reaching the ridgeline, we encountered light snow. The journey was slow; winter's snow had begun to melt into a slushy mess. Waist-deep in it, our 25kg backpacks filled with camera gear and alpine equipment didn't make it easier.
Unfortunately, the skies remained overcast, and the wind was relentless at the hut. Nonetheless, the 13km / 8-hour hike to Angelus Hut at 1650m was worth every step. It just means I'll have to return!
This image is a composite, featuring stars I shot a few months earlier. It represents what I could have captured if the weather had cooperated. I also edited out the toilets to the left of the hut for aesthetic purposes haha.
